Independent Development

Elaborating on whether I have achieved my personal goal of working independently.

Defining the Goal

It is often the case in group projects that some people contribute more. This can be in development efficacy, but also in architectural knowledge or group organisation. My goal was to show that I can create good software and make decisions independently, but am not too stubborn as to shoot myself in the foot.

Factors Contributing to the Goal

Due to the nature of internships, they are often more standalone modules or projects that have little involvement from colleagues. This internship is no different, which plays into this goal. It did, however, mean that around the halfway point I was left feeling isolated.

Luckily, I needed advice related to both software engineering as well as Azure infrastructure. This gave me the added interaction and discussion opportunities I required.

Alongside this, I also had a lot of interaction with the other interns. This included helping them out and giving me advice when needed.

Have I Achieved This Goal?

I have developed a useful and interesting project while communicating well with my client. Furthermore, I have used expert insights in my project to aid development. Because of this, I believe I have achieved this goal.
